Last Week - Out with Duan Rong and Elaine to shop around, got the 3 items I needed to bring for Japan: Jacket ($30), water-proof PVC shoes ($25) and Swimsuit ($40)
Sat -Met Xiang Ling on for Starbucks!! Then went Daiso and get some cheap but necessary stuffs I'll be needing for Japan (Socks, files for printed information etc) and a pair of slippers on discount from Cotton-On
Today - Met Yilin at Orchard again.
First, let me complain about how the weather is totally against me on purpose
I step into the lift on my floor, sunny out.
I step out of the life on the ground floor, heavy rain pouring!!!
The 15 minutes I took to walk to the MRT, rain pouring down non-stop!
The moment I reach the MRT, it took me a mere 3 minutes to keep my umbrella and get onto the platform, and I was met with a sight of a Super Sunny Day out! Where's the rain? Where's the pouring rain???! No sign of it except for some small puddles on the ground!
Ok...
Shopped around for a Mother's Day gift.
Looked around for Money Changer with good rates. Saw one at ION Orchard basement changing 1000yen for S$14.70, discussed a bit and told the person we'll just go to withdraw money first; after withdrawing the money (emptied bank account now T.T) discussed with Yilin and decided to go check out Lucky Plaza to see if got even better rates.
The one I went to the other time is now offering a rate of 1000yen to S$14.64; definitely better. The conclusion is that Yilin and I both saved about S$4 each haha.
Then went to JTB (a travel agency) for the main purpose we met up today: The 7 Day JR Pass; they selling it at the rate of 1000yen to S$14.80, a little higher than expected but I guess that's what they earn for this service?
And the shocking thing I learnt from the Japanese lady who served us: Japan Subway Stations have 17-20 platforms!!! The most Singapore have is about 4? (Douby Ghout) and I did expect Japan's station to have more, maybe 10 or so, but around 20? That's really crazy.
Was really motivated and after reaching home, started re-calculating (I just calculated it roughly 2 nights ago actually haha) the amount we'll need for this trip, down to every tiny little details; a little shocked at how much all the necessary expenses like Admission Tickets, Subway Daily Pass and Food is going to cost us already
But then again, its Japan, a country you should never visit unless you're rich... Even on our tight budget, it's not cheap! (On 2nd thought, I suppose that coming to Singapore for vacation ain't cheap as well? On the accounts of no hostels anyway)
Hope it's loads and loads of fun and will be totally worth the money!
PS: The only down part is that I can't go for KAT-TUN concert. And the concert goods list is out w/ photos too, I want! Yet I won't be able to acquire. More grief...
